Water Softener Pipework Blanking Kit
When moving home many customers want to take their water softener with them, much like you would any other appliance. Our water softener removal kits allow you to quickly and safely cap off the pipework that once connected your water softener to the mains supply – allowing you to remove it for use in another property. Consisting of 3/4″ BSP threaded blanking plugs for the inlet and outlet connections, push fit drain plug to blank off the drain line and rubber washers to ensure a leak-free seal.

How To Use The Removal Kit?
- Isolate Water Supply: Locate the bypass valves (usually near your main stopcock). Turn each valve 90° to shut off the water supply to the softener.
- Disconnect Hoses: Place a towel under the valves to catch any spills. Slightly loosen one of the hoses. Note, water will spray momentarily. Once the pressure drops and the spray stops, completely undo and remove both hoses.
- Cap Bypass Valves: Take your two 3/4” valve blanking caps and screw them onto the exposed bypass valves. Tighten them by hand, then use grips to secure.
- Seal Waste Connections: Trace the waste tube from the softener to the drain line. Remove the tube. Depending on your drainage setup, either push the 3/8” plug firmly into the push-fit connector or screw on the provided waste cap to ensure your drainage system is sealed. Finally, disconnect the overflow line. Your home’s plumbing is now safely isolated. You can pull the softener away, take it outside to drain the residual salty water and safely move it.
