Salt-Free Water Softener Alternative
As a reliable, salt-free alternative to a water softener these scale block whole house systems provide a ‘fit-and-forget’ solution to preventing limescale build-up in your pipework, heating system and appliances. Much like a water softener, the system works simultaneously to prevent new limescale formation and clear existing deposits over time; with very little maintenance required, thanks to a long filter lifespan of up to 3 years for whole-house applications. After this period, the filter cartridge can be easily changed with replacement cartridges costing less on average than running a traditional water softener.
How Does The Scale Block Work?
These scale inhibitors work using TAC technology, where limescale-forming molecules such as calcium and magnesium are rendered inactive and no longer able to form a hard scale. The chemistry of your water remains unchanged, meaning you can enjoy mineral-rich drinking water without the associated problems of hard water. This technology is the first effective salt and chemical-free limescale prevention method, independently tested to be 99.6% as effective as a water softener at preventing limescale build-up on heating elements.
How Long Does The Filter Cartridge Last?
For whole house applications where installed at the point of entry to a property, the filter cartridge needs to be replaced every 2-3 years. There will be signs that the cartridge needs replacing, such as scale formation on taps or shower heads. If installed on a private water supply, pre-treatment is recommended to ensure adequate lifespan. Further details related to private water supplies can be found in the product manual.
Please note if new copper pipework is used on the feed then the system needs to be passivated for a minimum of 4 weeks before installation
