Nitrate Removal Systems (Up To 6,000lph)

Price range: £1,430.00 through £5,340.00 Incl. VAT

Our Nitrate Removal Systems utilise ion exchange technology to reduce nitrate levels in water. Comprising of a freestanding vessel filled with nitrate-specific media, a brine tank to store the salt and market-leading Clack WS1 CI metered control valve to automatically regenerate the resin after capacity has been reached. Systems are available to suit high flow rates from 1,700 up to 6,000 litres per hour.

Product Features
  • Includes vessel, media, brine tank and control valve
  • Media lasts up to 15 years depending on nitrate levels
  • Reduces nitrate levels to below drinking water limits
  • Pre-programmed metered Clack WS1 CI valve
Choosing Vessel Size
Choose a vessel size based on peak flow rate, daily water usage, vessel size and the nitrate levels in your feed water. Measurements for vessels are given in inches (diameter x height) and flow rates in litres per hour. Refer to the size guide for a full breakdown on specifying a suitable system.

Nitrate Removal Systems Size Guide

To adequately size a Nitrate removal system, you will need to consider the following:

Peak Flow Rate
Your peak flow rate is the maximum amount of water that requires treating within a given period. This figure should not exceed the service flow rate of the chosen system. This figure should be easily able to accommodate your maximum water usage, with considerations for spikes (eg; additional guests, future extensions or water requirements). Overestimating your peak flow rate is recommended to future-proof when choosing a suitable Nitrate system.

Daily Water Usage
An approximate daily water usage figure will help you establish whether the level of Nitrate removal will be sufficient for your requirements. The average person uses around 160 litres of water per day, a four person household uses approximately 640 litres per day. You should also consider any additional water requirements, for example swimming pools, hot tubs and outbuildings.

Nitrate Levels
You will need to know the level of Nitrates in your water in mg/l. This can be obtained by performing a water analysis, or by using figures from a recent report. Testing prior to sizing your Nitrate system is recommended to ensure the system is able to perform as desired.

Sizing Your Nitrate Removal System
Once you have all of the information required, you can use the following calculation to help with sizing:

(Resin Volume Of System In Litres x 20) ÷ Your Nitrate Reading In mg/l

The result of this calculation will tell you the total volume of water (in metres cubed) the system can treat between regenerations. Compare this figure to your approximate daily water usage to ensure it gives at least 3 days of treated water. A practical example of this calculation is shown below.

(50L Resin x 20) ÷ 90 mg/l = 11.1m3 Between Regenerations

If a farm uses 2,000 litres of water per day, the above calculation shows a 50 litre Nitrate removal system will provide approximately 5-6 days of service before regenerating. Refer to the table below for resin volumes, service flow rates and treated water volumes for each system size.

System Size Service Flow Rate Resin Volume Treated Water Volume

NITRATE REMOVAL SYSTEMS

High Flow Rate Nitrate Reduction

Nitrate removal systems are commonly used on private water supplies and for light commercial applications, where nitrate levels exceed the recommended 50mg/l limit for drinking water as set out by the Drinking Water Inspectorate. Over 60% of the nitrate that enters our waterways is from agricultural run off – which is why these systems are incredibly popular in rural settings including for private water supplies (such as boreholes, springs and wells).

The most effective method for removing nitrates from drinking water is using a nitrate specific ion exchange resin, which much like water softening resin requires periodic regeneration using a strong brine. Once installed these systems require very little maintenance, with regenerations automatically initiated by the control valve when capacity has been reached. Our systems are all meter controlled, ensuring they run more efficiently than timer based sytems, keeping waste water and salt usage to an absolute minimum. The valve is pre-programmed, so all that needs to be set on site is the time of day and feed water nitrate level in mg/l (ppm).

How To Size A Nitrate Removal System?
If you aren’t sure which size to choose, do not hesitate to reach out to a member of our team who will be more than happy to assist you. Alternatively, you can refer to the sizing guide displayed next to the ‘add to wishlist’ button.

How Often Do I Need To Replace The Media?
Nitrate specific media generally lasts 10-15 years before it needs to be replaced. The lifespan of the media can vary depending on your nitrate levels, whether the system is programmed to the correct nitrate level and based on system maintenance e.g. ensuring it is always topped up with salt.

Very pleased with the service. There was an issue with the water softener I ordered initially, but then following communications made the replacement process quite pleasant. Happily recommend this company. Thanks to Becky for working with me. Great follow up support 😊😊😊

First time using this company and product and i wasnt dissappointed. Communication was easy and quick resulted in an easy order and now having fitted the filter i can say its a great product easy to install and appears good quality apart from the four mild steel bracket screws stainless would have been better considering the environment these are fitted. All in all, very pleased and would highly recommend .

Excellent local company and genuinely lovely people to deal with. Really helpful and knowledgeable, with great advice about my water softener and the correct salt to use. They even gave me some resin cleaner at no charge, which was a very kind gesture. Fantastic friendly service and I’ll definitely be returning for my salt in future. Highly recommended.

If you're thinking about a water softener then i HIGHLY recommend Ultra Soft Water Softeners Ltd. Great softeners and exceptional customer service. The water softener I bought needed some adjustments with the installation setup where I supported throughout. The customer service is honestly next level. I had countless calls with Becky Gillett, the Sales Manager, over a period of months to get to the bottom of it. She was incredibly patient with me, staying on the phone and doing video calls to walk me through the programming instructions step-by-step while I changed the settings and ensured all was installed correctly. All the staff here have been great, but Becky really stuck with me from start to finish to make sure it was sorted and working well. It runs like a dream now. HIGHLY recommend them!
