Tablet Salt For Water Softeners
£15.00 – £20.00
Our Tablet Salt is designed specifically for use with our range of Water Softeners as well as other non-block salt using systems. Tablet salt is also a suitable upgrade for customers that are currently using granular salt. Salt is a consumable item that must be kept topped up, as it is required for your softener to regenerate. Available in smaller 10kg bags or larger 25kg bags at a discounted price.

Description
The type of salt that you use for your Water Softener really matters. Fine or ‘table salt’ should not be used, as it can damage the seals and components in the valve. Granular salt tends to be used in older Water Softeners and although better than fine salt, is still associated with causing damage. Tablet salt is now the industry norm, designed to dissolve slowly and create a strong brine solution without breaking off into tiny shards which can affect softener operation.
The primary maintenance required for an ion-exchange Water Softener is making sure it has salt in the brine tank. If the salt is low you need to add more. When adding salt check that the salt already in the brine tank is loose and freely moving. If you notice any chunks gently break them up. Then simply pour the tablet salt into the brine tank up to the full line (around 3/4″ of the way to the top) before replacing the lid of the brine tank.

How Often Do I Need To Add Salt To My Water Softener?
Salt should be kept topped up, when the brine tank is only half full of salt or less you need to add more. For domestic customers, this is usually once a month.
